Hey all you out there.
Well, now that I have my sub-ohm mod (see ‘more mods’ in this blog), I ordered some coils that I never could use with my previous mods, and, as I suspected, yup, these coils turned out to be sub-ohm even though the site says 1.7 ohms each.
Hopefully you know what I’m talking about. If not, I’ll just tell you, I’m talking about equipment to vaporize cannabis concentrates, in particular, some coils and atomizers.
These coils consist of a wire and porous ceramic rods. The cannabis concentrate is placed on top of these wires/ceramics and then electricity is passed through the wire causing the element to heat, much like a toaster or electric heater. So then of course, the vapor produced is inhaled and the medicinal benefits are enjoyed.
So. First my review on the coils. Here’s a pic of the available coils, not all available coils are pictured here:

OK, so, as you can see, most of these coils are listed as 1.7 ohm… don’t believe the hype !
When tested, these coils came out to 0.9 -1.0 ohms. Definitely not possible with a normal mod. Well, this is another reason I got my E-LVT 2.0, it goes down to 0.1 ohms ! (7-30 watts)
So I got the All Ceramic Dual Coil, which I LOVE. These have great quality Kanthal wire, they never clog, and I’ve been on the same one for 3 days ! Amazing. No more wicks for this guy… no way…. sick of buying those 1-coil wicked jobs anyway. Definitely worth the 4.99 .
So I also got a couple of the metal shrouded ones (yes they fit inside your 510 globe).
In addition, I got the All-Ceramic Donut Atomizer. This is a self-contained 510 device which houses an all-ceramic donut inside the metal shaft.
First of all, the donut is so far down, I need to melt my hash oil onto it, by heating the dab tool with a lighter, and letting the oil melt onto the donut. So OK, got that. Next comes the wattage setting.
The site says ‘9 watts is the sweet spot’ so of course I began with 9 watts. Absolutely not enough watts to make this thing vaporize. I ended up on 13 watts before the thing got so incredibly hot i feared for my life and unscrewed and laid it down.
I’m going to try it again, at risk of wasting more hash oil, but heck.
Also there is a strange taste to it, perhaps some leftover machining lube or something, the filter in the draw cap is not removable making cleaning it almost impossible.
So, not overly stoked about the donut, but will try some more in the future.
